About Us

Founded in early 2009, Don't Even Tripp Productions is a theatrical/film production company that was established by Writer/Director A.J. Tripp. Even though Miss Tripp is the founder of the company, she has banded together with a group of close friends who are just as passionate to produce meaningful works of arts. Don't Even Tripp Productions lives by the motto by of " Dont Tripp, we got this! " Meaning, despite what challenges may come our way, we are determined to entertain, challenge and empower our audience no matter what! We are on a mission to bring the ART back to the ARTS .

We believe we can achieve this by placing a high emphasis on our faith as well as the 3 P's of life, which are: Passion, Purpose and Power. We believe we have the PASSION to inspire others with stories of PURPOSE that will provoke POWER and change unto ones' life. We aim to make sure our audience members and supporters are fed with heart-felt stories that reflect what is going on within their community. We also aim to provide solutions through our productions in the hopes of provoking some type of discourse that will eventually motivate people to change the world in which we live in today. In a nutshell, we are not just aiming to entertain our audience but instead we want to empower them.

A.J. Tripp is an energetic passionate young woman who comes from the small town of Pittsburg, CA. Her passion/love for writing, film and theatre made her decide to pursue a degree in Television/Film New Media from San Diego State University. In her four and half years of attending SDSU she had the opportunity to study abroad in Singapore at Nanyang Technological University and study new media and film. She also has written/directed two short films entitled, 'Unidentified' and 'Bowling from Behind.' In her last year attending SDSU, she was granted with the opportunity in association with the African American Student Drama Association to produce/direct/write her first full length 3-Act play entitled, 'The Skin Im In.' The play was a huge success on her campus and sparked the idea for her to create Don't Even Tripp Productions. In the spring of 2010 her newly founded production company released her 2nd full length play 'and an Angel Came Down...' which premiered at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek, CA. The play was received very well, selling out the 2nd night! Half the ticket proceeds were donated to the Youth Uprising Center of Oakland, CA. Ayasha is currently living in Chicago and plans to attend Graduate School this fall. She eventually plans to fuse her two greatest loves: Education & Arts by pursuing a career as an Artistic Teacher and even starting her own 'School of the Arts'. She aspires to assist young people find their passion/purpose in this world through the use of arts and writing.
Asia Jackson was born in Oakland and raised in Pittsburg, California on October 18, 1985. After attending Mount Diablo High School, she was accepted to San Diego State University in 2003. Upon entering college, she, like so many prospective and freshman college students, did not know what she wanted to do. She pre-majored in business with an emphasis in management. However, her sophomore year, she randomly auditioned in a student-written play, and was cast as the lead. The play was a success on campus, and afterwards, she discovered her passion...acting. Her junior year of college, she changed her major from business to theatre arts with an emphasis in performance. She also minored in film so that she could learn the aesthetics of film. She became president of the African Student Drama Association and was cast in The Vagina Monologues and Hamlet: Blood in the Brain on campus. In the summer of 2008 she was cast in The Body Washer at Compass Theatre in San Diego. After graduating college in December of 2008, she was cast in her first professional theatre show Bulrusher, at New Village Arts Theatre in Carlsbad. After the run of the show, Asia has decided to move back to the Bay Area and pursue her acting career while helping A.J. run Don't Even Tripp Productions.
Jasmine Allen is a native of Chicago, and a Chicago Academy of the Arts alumni with multiple artistic interests including theatre, film, and visual arts. She recently completed her bachelors degree in Television, Film, and New Media at San Diego State University where she studied, film, animation and graphic design. As an actor, Jasmine has appeared in San Diego State’s touring production of Romeo and Juliet playing Juliet, and in the southwest regional premiere of Bulrusher at New Village Arts Theatre playing the role of Bulrusher. Jasmine first began working with A.J. Tripp in Fall of 2007 appearing in her first production playing Crystal, “The Skin I’m In.”She continues to study acting, write, and direct films, while working with Don’t Even Tripp Productions.

Past Productions

The story of a young man who is dealing with the murder of his younger sister. Although he claims he is at peace and has found spiritual healing through God, in reality he is dealing with his pain through an addiction to painkillers and masking his troubles through other people. The story addresses social issues such as: the prostitution ring in Oakland, domestic violence, and the struggles associated with forgiveness. It also stresses the importance of not only professing faith through words, but also through ones' behavior.

Don't Even Tripp productions is not only committed to producing powerful works of Art but we also aim to celebrate and pay tribute to our predecessors and their contributions to society. We appreciate the great Thinkers and Artists of the Harlem Renaissance; for had they not been courageous enough to redefine how African Americans were perceived, we could not be respected nor acknowledged in a Scholarly or Artistic sense.In the upcoming 2012 year, we plan to follow in the footsteps of those great Artists and Thinkers of the Harlem Renaissance by embarking on our own Artistic rebirth; fittingly named: P.O.P Renaissance! P.O.P. which stands for 'People of Purpose' is aiming to highlight individuals of diverse backgrounds who are dedicated to their craft of choice and are looking to bring awareness and change in their communities. We are seeking to highlight a variety of people such as: musicians, writers, actors, educators, activists, poets, etc. We want to create a platform that demonstrates a generation that is committed to their community and are not apathetic to the injustices that we face today. We also are working to unite artists across the nation in hopes that we all can support each other in our respected endeavors. Along with supporting each other, we're also hoping this Modern Day Renaissance will spark motivation for others to seek their own passion that will allow them to discover their purpose within society.If you are a passionate person who is doing something in your commnunity please contact us at PopRenaissance2012_gmail.com.
